"It (the book) can give to the present generation the evidence upon the final verdict must be framed (of a great man) ." (from the Preface.) lBook condition: Covers are original full leather. Lower half of the spine is missing, the title can be read on the upper half ( one letter is obscured in Hendricks). Other covers are good in condition and attractive and light brown color, except for damp stains (circa 8 sq. in. on the front cover & lesser and lighter coverage on the back. The front leather hinge is broken entirely, and is held by the inner paper hinge. The rear leather hinge is broken 2/3rd from the bottom and inner hinge seems secure. Covers seem secure. Three of cover corners have some board showing. Top edge has dull gildingi .The other two are a pale tan color. Contents, other than their pale light color, approach VG. Hinges are weakened and should be not handled roughly.
