Two vintage black-and-white still photographs from the 1953 UK release of the 1952 French film. Mimeograph snipes affixed to the verso of 1 still, and distributor rubber-stamp on the verso of the other. Based on Sartre's 1946 play, "La putain respectueuse," about the murder of a black man on a train. The only witnesses are an American prostitute and a black man. The suspect tries to seduce the prostitute to make her give false testimony that the black man attempted to rape her. She finally gives in to the suspects demands, but the black man, after nearly being lynched, flees to safety in her home. 8 x 10 inches. Light creasing overall, else Near Fine.

Collection of eight vintage studio still photographs from the 1952 French film. Mimeo snipe affixed to the versos of four stills. Based on Jean-Paul Sartre's 1946 play, "The Respectful Prostitute." A racially charged film, based on the play which caused Sartre to be deemed "anti-American" for its incisive critique of racism in America. A prostitute is compelled to testify against an innocent African American in a murder cover-up. 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus. Light ware and curling overall, scattered manuscript ink and pencil annotations to the versos.
