Hard Back. Condición: As New. Estado de la sobrecubierta: No Dust Jacket. First Pinting. 245 Pages. Green boards with gold lettering to spine and front. This book profiles the political struggles of ten radical women active on the European scene from 1880 to the present, and contributes to the history of the role of women in twentieth century European politics. Women have fought, demonstrated, and served as leaders whenever radical political or social movements emerged in the past centuries of European history. They participated in the religious and political sects of the English Civil War, the tumultuous events of the French Revolution, the collective but sporadic working-class actions of the early nineteenth century, and the militancy of the 1870 Paris Commune. Radical political movements clearly appeal to women as well as to men, although perhaps for different reasons. Since the late nineteenth century, however, when popular protest evolved toward large-scale socialist organizations with clear objectives, programs, and demands, it has become easier to measure what radical politics have meant for women, and how women influenced these movements. The socialist and communist parties of Europe and Russia, because of their size and influence, provide the most extensive material through which women's relationship to radical politics can be analyzed.
