Condición: Good. 1st edition. Cloth, G. xxiv+326pp, b/w frontis, attractive bevelled edge binding with deep blind stamped patterning, front hinge weak, head of spine frayed, cloth rubbed, Ex Library with library numbers to the spine & occasional stamps inside, old library ticket [ with return dates of 1909 ], a good copy. Collected poetical works of Kirke White [1785 - 1806 ] who was able, although unwell to attend Cambridge thanks to the generosity of friends. The strain of work was too much & he died a year after entering St John College. His career was helped by Southey who thought him an able poet. Grahame [1765 - 1811] Scottish poet, whos verse have a philanthropic vein & carry description sof the Scotish landscape. 700 grams.

Cloth, G. xxiv+298pp, b/w frontis, attractive bevelled edge binding with deep blind stamped patterning, hinges weak, head of spine frayed, cloth rubbed, Ex Library with library numbers to the spine & occasional stamps inside, old library ticket [ with return dates of 1908 ], a good copy. The poetical works of James Beattie [1735 - 1803], a professor of Moral Philosophy who also wrote poems containing much beautiful descriptive writing. His most famous, the Minstrel, won him the favour of Johnson. Robert Blair, [1699 - 1746], Scottish poet wrote a single poem, The Grave, in blank verse. William Blake was inspired to produce 12 works to illustrate the poem. William Falconer [1732 - 1769], sailor & poet. His experience as a sailor helped him produce his most famous work 'The Shipwreck'. ironicaaly Flaconer was to die abourd the Aurora, which was lost with all hands of the Cape of Good Hope in 1769. 700 grams.

Tissues occasionally foxed but plates unaffected. All gilt edges and b/w illustrated title page. Some mild foxing and front hinge cracking. Head and foot of spine a bit bumped. Overall an attractive book.

Full-Leather. Condición: Good. Kronheim Ilustrador. A good copy, recently rebound in full leather, with colour frontispiece and 5 further colour Kronheim plates. All page edges gilt. The binding, with gilt-lined raised bands to spine, and title labels, is in quarter leather style, with green leather to spine and tan to the boards. The binding is in very good condition with a little surface loss in some places. Contents with frontispiece, engraved title and printed title page are in fair to good condition. They are complete with generally clean text. The plates and tissue guards have some staining - this is generally to the back of the plates and to borders. Final text leaves with some spotting - and final page brown-toned.
