At foot of t.p.: "524."19 [1] pages. pages loose and some smudges otherwise, good condition.TPL 2149 An exceptionally important document detailing 885 persons arrested for high treason in connection with the Rebellion of 1837 in Upper Canada, including those executed and those transported to prison colonies. List of persons detained in Toronto and elsewhere on charges of insurrection and high treason listing their name, occupation, date of arrest, date of acquittal, type of trial, result of the latter, and other remarks relating to their file such as details of their movements, the legal agreements made, etc. A total of 885 persons arrested, including 422 in Toronto, 160 in London and 43 in Niagara. Of the above number, there were 27 in prison on the 1st of November 1838.There is a list with 61 names on page 18, "Return of Persons against whom INDICTMENTS were found for the crime of HIGH TREASON, but who Absconded, and are called upon to Surrender themselves, by the 1st day of February next, or be Outlawed", including members of the Provincial Parliament (John Rolph, David Gibson and Charles Duncombe) and William Lyon McKenzie, the Printer.
