Not price clipped (12.00). No remainder mark. No store stamp, owner's name or bookplate. No underlining. No highlighting. No margin notes. From the rear cover: "In this compelling collection of interviews, best-selling authors of mystery and suspense reveal their lives behind the pages. They discuss what inspires them, what scares them, why they write what they do - as well as what subjects they don't touch upon and why. This collection offers a unique look into the minds of these masters of the genre. Stephen King reveals why he uses his pseudonym, Richard Bachman; Patricia Cornwell compares herself to Kay Scarpetta. Mary Higgins Clark asks - and answers - the question she has always wished people would ask her; Sue Grafton discusses her views on male versus female private investigators in detective fiction; Mickey Spillane comments on the fun and frustration of writing in Hollywood." Includes over 20 interviews - with Stephen King, Patricia Cornwell, Mary Higgins Clark, Sue Grafton, Mickey Spillane, Anne Perry, Tony Hillerman, Sharyn McCrumb, Joan Hess, Ed McBain, Simon Brett, Elizabeth George, Peter Lovesey, Marcia Muller, Carolyn Hart, Ian Rankin, Elizabeth Peters, Dominick Abel, Bill Pronzini, Minette Walters and John Harvey. Five episodes, c.45 pp. each, secured with split pin to top left. Variously age-toned and edgeworn, extensive markings and timings throughout most copies, some missing title pages. First editions. PRODUCER JACQUES BROWN'S COPY, WITH HIS ANNOTATIONS, AND FOUR OTHER EPISODES, EXTENSIVELY MARKED UP FOR STUDIO USE. Co-written by Jimmy 'Goon Show' Grafton, Happy Holiday starred Peter Sellers, Dennis Price, Bill Owen, Elizabeth Larner and Dick Emery. (Emery was by now a semi-regular in The Goon Show, stepping in whenever Spike Milligan's fragile health failed him). Set in the seaside resort of Littleton-on-Sea, the 45-minute show was a light-hearted sitcom with plenty of musical interludes, in which everybody played themselves except Peter Sellers, who played everybody else. The show was devised by the indefatigable Dennis Main Wilson, and ran for a single series between July and August in 1954. All copies offered here are studio copies, extensively marked up with amendments and timings. It is common for such copies to be missing the title page (as four of these are): since it carried no information of use to anyone in the recording booth, it was often discarded as surplus to requirements. Jacques Brown's copy is Episode 4 (and retains its title page); the others are Episodes 3, 10, 14, and one unnumbered.
