Pulishers blue buckram with blind stamped border and corner motifs to boards, gilt lettering and illustration to front and lettering and floral motifs to spine. Worn and a little darkened, with a 2 inch ink stain to rear board. Front hinge cracked. page long gift inscription penned to free front endpaper. A little foxing to prelims, preliminary pages starting to loosen a little. Binders ticket of `Edmonds and Remnants` to rear pastedown. All edges gilt. v, 256pp.

Colbran, Bookseller, Stationer & Printer, High Street, Tunbridge Wells, Circulating Library'. Some fading to covers, minor shelfwear to extremities, rebacked with original spine laid down. Minor dampstain to preliminaries, but generally clean and crisp. A good example overall.

With illustrations in-text and to margins by various artists, as well as an engraved frontispiece and a title page decorated in red and gilt. Publisher's blind-decorated blue cloth, with gilt titles and decoration to spine and upper, brown endpapers, and all edges gilt. Bookseller's blindstamp to flyleaf, and a binder's ticket to rear flyleaf. Rear hinge starting, but quite firm. A crisp, clean copy with very light occasional spotting. Some toning and rubbing to spine and other extremities. Near fine.

The fifteenth edition of this work in a half calf binding. All edges, end papers and paste downs marbled. Numerous illustrations by Richard "Dickie" Doyle (1824-1883), John Leech (1817-1864), Alfred Henry Forrester (1804-1872), known under the pseudonym of Alfred Crowquill, who were all well-known for their illustrations for Punch. William Edmondstoune Aytoun (1813-1865) and Sir Theodore Martin (1816-1909) were both Scottish poets. In around 1841, they became acquainted, and together they wrote a series of humorous articles on the fashions and follies of the time, in which were interspersed the verses which afterwards became popular as the Bon Gaultier Ballads (1855). In a half calf binding. Externally smart, with a little rubbing to the extremities and bumping to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally clean with the odd spot throughout. Very Good. book.

The twelfth edition of this work in a full calf binding, with decorative gilt to the spine and boards. All edges gilt. Ink inscription to the verso of the front free end paper, dated 1889.
