Leather. Condición: Good. None Ilustrador. Two volumes of this illustrated work on the Christian scripture. Aimed at a youthful audience, this publication from John Tallis and Co explains the history of the scripture with several illustrations. Edited by Thomas Gaspey, a English journalist and novelist. Gaspey was best known for his verse, which he contributed to Literary Recreations. For many years he was a parliamentary reporter of The Morning Post. This work is illustrated throughout, with an illustrated plate for each Bible story/scripture. In full straight grained morocco bindings. Externally, generally smart. Rear joint to volume I is starting but firm with both joints to volume II starting but firm. Rubbing to the spine and joints, particularly to the head and tail. Small loss to the head and tail of volume II. All hinges are slightly strained but firm. Prior owner's inscription to verso of front endpaper, Alice Emily W--- dated 19 Dec 1879. Internally, both volumes are firmly bound. Pages are age toned with scattered spots throughout. Good. book.
