Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Stefan Salter Ilustrador. 1st Edition. [278pp, top edge blue]: [vi], 272; gilt crimson linen blocked blue, lacking jacket; 209 x 142 x 31 mm. The scarce first novel & third book by medium & parapsychologist, Eileen Jeanette Garrett (1893-1970), issued under the pseudonym Jean Lyttle (with two-colour serigraph tp). Born Eileen Brownell-Vancho in Ireland, she was adopted shortly after birth into the related Lyttle clan, & also retained the name of second husband, Johann Garrett (accounting for her many names & pseudonym). Ten years after arriving in the US, she founded the Creative Age Press (1941) publishing at least eight of her numerous books (under both her name & pseudonym) before the imprint's demise (1951); followed by New-Age-style titles through the 50s & 60s under several imprints including her own Garrett Publications. Also a co-founder (with Ohio Congresswoman, Frances Payne Bolton) of the Parapsychology Foundation (1951), her spirit has continued to channel through later mediums since her death. An unfortunate specimen, lacking ffe & half-title (which would bulk the book to 280pp); otherwise a clean, tight, well-preserved copy of this elusive debut novel (WorldCat tracing 15 copies).
