Gewebe. Condición: Sehr gut. 1. ed. [110] S. : überw. Ill. ; 23 cm Zustand: Leineneinband mit Schutzumschlag, tadellos --- Inhalt: überwiegend schwarzweiß illustriert, wenig englischer Text. The publication of Paris: A Short Return marks the first time that the significant body of photographs which Robert Frank made in Paris in the early 1950s have been brought together in a single book. Having left Switzerland in 1924, this 1951 trip to France was only Frank`s second return to Europe after he had settled in New York City in 1947, and some of the images he made during that visit have become iconic in the history of the medium. The 80 photographs reproduced here, which were selected by Frank and editor Ute Eskildsen, suggest that Frank`s experience of the "new world" had sharpened his eye for European urbanism. He saw the city`s streets as a stage for human activity and focused particularly on the flower sellers. His work clearly references Atget and invokes the tradition of the flaneur. Soft cover. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fine. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. Flexibound cloth-covered boards, with photographically illustrated dust jacket. Photographs, collages and film stills by Robert Frank. Edited by Ute Eskildsen. Essays (in English) by Ute Eskildsen, Wolfgang Beilenhoff and Christoph Ribbat. Interview with the artist by Ute Eskildsen. Includes an illustrated bibliography and biography featuring numerous previously unpublished images of Robert Frank, his family and friends. 168 pp. with 102 duotone plates. 10-3/4 x 8-1/4 inches. Published on the occasion of the major traveling exhibition Robert Frank: Hold Still, Keep Going. Fine in Fine dust jacket. From the publisher: "From the very outset of his career, Frank distrusted the single photographic image and its claim to freeze moments of truth: time and again he gravitated to the moving image and serial photography, be it in book form or as a panel of photographs. Reproducing more than 100 collages, film stills and serial works, this volume will certainly become a new standard publication on Robert Frank, innovative photographer and experimental filmmaker.".
