Book has some browning/fading to edges from reaction from long contact with paper dust jacket (we have now placed the jacket in a clean, archival quality removable mylar cover). There is no fraying or wear to the book; binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Light foxing to map-illustrated endpapers. Inscribed and signed by Ethel Armes on half-title page: "To Elizabeth Grace Armistead with the greetings of her old friend - Ethel Armes - Holiday House, Wellfleet, Cape Cod." Color frontispiece portrait of Nancy Shippen. Illustrated with portraits, facsimiles and prints. Last blank page of book has photo advertisement clipping showing Miss Lucy Armistead Flippin (to whom the book is inscribed) in a Pond's Cold Cream magazine ad, and a clipping about her Charlottesville wedding. 349 pages with index. Jacket is clean, has short closed edge tears, 1" chip at upper spine corner, is not price clipped (3.50 on front inside flap). Signed by Author(s).
