Orange Cloth Hardback. Condición: Very Good. Second Printing. No stated date c1930 (a publisher's catalogue listing latest 2/6 novels includes Summer Lightning by P.G. Wodehouse, published in 1929). Second printing. 310pp. plus a 10 page catalogue. We believe one of the author's of this hard-to-find crime mystery to be Arthur Compton-Rickett (1869-1937), a lawyer, author, literary historian, and editor. We have no information about the co-author. The story concerns Chris Carlton, an employee of the Insurance United, who investigates the death of a mill owner who was insured for £100,000. The book is bound in the original orange cloth covered boards with black titling on the spine and front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with some shelf wear and light soiling on the boards. The spine is lightly faded with bumping to the spine ends. The contents are tight and clean with a tear of about 1 1/2" on the fore edge of the last page of the catalogue at the end of the book. There is no inscription.
