Paperback. Staplebound paperback, original covers, hole punched in upper corner, with hanging string still attached, glossy paper, 32 pp, illustrated with black and white drawings and photographs in ads for local businesses. Very good+. Lightly age yellowed, moderate shelf wear, a 1 inch and a 2 inch tear on fold of covers, a few erased pencil marks, otherwise tight, clean, paper crisp, unmarked. Less common urban almanac, published by a then leading newspaper, with the text consisting of a chronology of the history of Elizabeth, New Jersey and vicinity, signifcant local events for various days on the calendar pages, plus lists of local officials, houses of worship, transportation, historical markers, etc. Of particular interst are the ads for the then flourishing businesses, such a Proctor's Bijou Dream Theatre, which featuted motion pictures and "high class" vaudeville, C Eilbacher, manufacturer of artifical (concrete) architectural stone products, including buiral vaults, the Normandie Park housing develipment in Cranford, New Jersey, Fischer & Dackermann Business Wagons, Trucks and Carriages (with photo of the building and buggies) etc. History; genealogy; Americana; urban studies.
