, Einstein, Alfred, 1880-1952. Essays on music. Introduction by Paul Henry Lang, preface to the English edition by Ralph Leavis. London, Faber and Faber, 1958, English revised edition, 271pp., very good dust-jacket, price-clipped, label removed, very good blue cloth. According to the preface, the English edition is preferable to the American edition of 1956 due to the improved translations: "It would seem that even after his emigration, Einstein always wrote his articles in German first and left them to be translated into English by other hands. The quality of these translations varies, but in several of them it seems now to be inadequate; [.] Some alterations therefore appeared desirable.".
