A limited edition of one-thousand copies, this copy numbered three-hundred and forty.Published for the tercentenary of Fortnum and Mason, this work compiles together the illustrations Edward Bawden did for the company in the years between 1932 to 1939, and 1955 to 1959.In the original scarce publisher's cardbox box, in a very good condition.Fortnum and Mason is one of the most recognisable department stores in the world. Founded in 1707 by a footman in the household of Queen Anne and his landlord, the shop started as a grocery store, before expanding greatly during the Victorian era.Illustrated colourfully throughout, showcasing the beautiful art of Edward Bawden. A noted war artist, Bawden is known to have produced some of his most innovative and humorous works for Fortnum and Mason.With an essay by Peyton Skipwith. In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original publisher's cardboard box. Externally, fine, with a couple of very small marks to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound.
