Plain green cloth hardcover with slightly faded gilt spine lettering, without dust jacket, Second Edition, INCOMPLETE TEXT, all pages after 202 and half of one illustration are missing; text block remaining intact but looseness developing in binding, spine backing partially detached, much foxing throughout (particularly on illustrations), neat ink gift inscription dated "1878", overall Poor condition, but very scarce.

Bourne Hall Draper's stories of the Bible is illustrated with 19 full page plates featuring 38 striking engravings (2 per plate). The images depict the most important biblical scenes from Adam and Eve under the tree of knowledge to the Crucifixion of Jesus. Head of spine chipped. Spine cocked. Moderate rubbing along edges. Text in French. Binding in overall good-, interior in very good condition. About the author: Bourne Hall Draper (1775-1843) was educated for the Baptist Ministry at the Bristol Academy, under the Rev. Dr. J. Rylands. He was pastor of the Baptist Church at Chipping Norton 1804, and subsequently at Southampton, where he died in 1843.
