The illustrated diary of a missionary who, from 1840 to 1847, lived among the Flatheads, Coeur d' Alenes, and the Blackfeet in the northern Rocky Mountains. Reproduced here are 285 of Point's paintings, 232 in full color, and the only first-hand information about the customs, habits, family life, religion, ceremonies and costumes of these indigenous people. 274 pages include bibliography, notes.
