Tall 8vo. 6.5 x 10 inches. viii + 237 + [1] pp. Bound in original blue cloth, gilt, with gilt facsimile signature, in price clipped pictorial dust wrapper, which has a slightly faded spine and a little edge wear at top and head of spine; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 5 pages of plates, including portrait frontispiece and facsimiles and by folding genealogical table in pocket at end. Decorated by Houses of Parliament device on title page. Transcription of the diaries and papers of Sir Edward Dering (1625-84), of Pluckley, Kent. The contents include the Parliamentary Diaries,1660 and 1675, the Personal Diary, 1675, the Account Books, 1680-84 and Miscellaneous Papers, 1644 to 1683. Dering, a royalist, graduated from Cambridge and married Mary Harvey, the niece of William Harvey. He served as one of the MPs for Kent, 1660-61, for East Retford, 1670-79 and for Hythe from 1679 and as a Commissioner of the Treasury, 1679-84.
