Ephemera. Single typed sheet, 8.25 x 11 inches. James K. Hackett (1869-1926) was an American actor and stage manager. In 1911 he appeared in his debut film'The Prisoner of Zelda' for Zukor's Famous Players Company. Typed letter signed by secretary ('dictated but not corrected' typed at bottom of letter). On letterhead 'Tour of James K. Hackett / Season of 1911-1912', dated September 23, 1912. Letter deals with Hackett's plans to tour East via Los Angeles, correspondance re Professor Armes, University of California, Berkeley, and Hackett re publication of a work of Hackett, and thanks to O'Day for an evening at the Press Club, hoping that he will be voted a non-resident member of that club. Very good copy with rust marks from removed paperclip at top of letter. Letter previously folded for mailing. With typed addressed envelope with 'Tour of James Hackett / Season of 1911-1912' on rear.

Ephemera. Two letters from James Woods to Edward F. O'Day, the first from Hotel Belmont,1918, thanking O'Day for time spent together, commenting on an easy cross-country journey recently completed and wishing O'Day well. The second, from Hotel Biltmore in Los Angeles, 1927, responds to O'Day's letter referring a visitor to Los Angeles to Woods for any assistance he could provide. The letter to Woods from O'Day, unsigned, is included. Woods directed the Hotel St. Francis in San Francisco at the time of the earthquake. He opened the Biltmore in Los Angeles. He died in 1940. Very good copies. 1918 letter on Hotel Belmont letterhead with vignette of hotel on upper left, dayed July 3, 1918. About 90 words. Rust from paperclip at top of letter. With type addressed envelope. The second letter on Los Angeles Biltmore letterhead, is dated April thirteeth 1927. About 70 words. O'Day's letter to Woods is about 60 words.

He was also the national Catholic co-chairman of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. Signed by the author. Typed letter, on Federal Home Loan Bank Board letterhead, dated May 15, 1942, addressed to Mr. Edward F. O'Day, The Family Club, San Francisco. Letter congratulates O'Day for his poem 'Corregidor', sent to Twohy by Charles McDonagh. Twohy hopes that O'Day will print the poem for distribution and send copies to him. Good Content.
