leather. Condición: Near Fine. Maurice Denis Ilustrador. Illustrated Edition. A superb copy of this edition of Dante illustrated by French artist Maurice Denis. Full red calf with green leather inlays; this pattern is reversed on the reverse side of both boards. From an entire edition of 130, this one was printed expressly for the translator, who has inscribed it to his brother. Two holograph letters bound in--one to the artist Denis from his preferred collaborator, the engraver Jacques Bertrand; the other is a short response from Denis.Three extra color illustrations also bound in. There are shadows of where some other material has been removed. Despite their tantalizing absence, a beautiful, unique copy. Inscribed by Author(s).
