Softcover. Condición: Very Good-. Folded for mailing. The Curtis letter has remains of prior mounting on the reverse. ; Two handwritten letters, both are to William Makepeace Thackeray. The contents concern a manuscript which Mackie wished to submit to Cornhill. The one from Mackie begins: "Will you permit me by favor of the enclosed note, from Mr. George W. Curtis, to make my humble bow in the august presence of the Editor of the Cornhill Magazine. My apology for so doing, is in my hand in the shape of a manuscript ." With an added note on the fourth page from H. S. Fearing sending his address as the mailing contact for the manuscript. The introduction letter from Curtis begins: "My dear Thackeray, My friend Mr. Mackie, known to us all by his delightful little sketches of Spain .has a fresh MS of Yankee Cosas which he proposes to submit to the 'Cornhill'".
