A very unique book, with verse & prose by children's book author Elizabeth Coatsworth brought to life with some of the paintings of 33 artists especially commissioned by UNICEF to design its Christmas cards, the sale of which help provide nutrition & health care to needy children around the world. Still operational today (2023), the art in the cards displayed in this volume are vintage 1960s. In 93 pages, lavishly illustrated in full color. A FIRST EDITION, Second printing, from 1960, this hardcover 8vo (6.25" x 9") has glossy white paper-covered boards brightly decorated with a images from a painting by R. Duvoisin) of children from around the world, a design replicated on the accompanying DJ. Condition is VG+: very clean & bright with minor rubbing to extremities & bumping to spine tips/corners. Interior pages are white, brightly colored, with just a hint of tanning to edges; unmarked save for former owner's name in neat pen to ffep. The bottom-clipped DJ is Good+, with some chips to both bottom & top edges & both ends of spine; nicely protected in new mylar cover Free!
