Hardcover. Condición: New. 1a.ed. 145 x 220 Erste Auflage, 14x21,5cm, 1126p., Tapa dura. Sprache: Spanisch, NUEVO / NEU / NEW. Hardback. Cartoné, 14x21,5 cm. Nuevo. Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. 8vo. Dark grey cloth. xliv, 212pp. A selection in parallel English and German of ninety-nine poems from the three posthumous volumes 'Force of Light', 'Snow-Part', and 'Farmstead of Time', plus the prose piece 'Conversation in the Mountains', in which the poet elaborates on his objectives. With a back cover quotation by Michael Palmer: 'I don't know of any humanly more important work than these late poems of Celan. They represent nothing less than the recovery of a language from its destruction by fire.' Slightly dusty and spotted to the edges, but Very Good in about like jacket, if a little dust-dulled/shelfworn, the white areas moderately toned and occasionally spotted/marked, the spine ends bumped, though generally crisp. Loosely inserted (in addition to a flyer from the publisher) are two autograph notes signed ('Gisele') from Celan's wife, Gisele Celan-Lestrange, to Tom (Raworth), both dated to September of the year of publication, the initial one enclosing the book. Signed.

Folio, 27 pp., bound in original dark blue linen and printed by Dan Carr and Julia Ferrari at Golgonooza Letter Foundry in an edition of 300. First thus edition of Celan's powerful depiction of horror and death in a concentration camp, which has been described by Weimar as "combining mysteriously compelling imagery with rhythmic variations and structural patterns that are both elusive and pronounced". Includes "Echo d'une terre, Echo einer Erde," and an etching by Gisele Celan-Lestrange. This copy LACKS the slipcase and CD Rom which included a reading of the poem by Celan, otherwise NF.
