Jahrhundert und seine Werke fanden Aufnahme praktisch in ganz Europa. Dem ersten Band vorgebunden ist eine Abhandlung von Christian Thomasius über den unterschiedlichen Nutzen des Studiums der Altertümer, hauptsächlich beim Studium des römischen Rechts.

Edizione originale di questa trattazione che è da ritenere il primo tentativo, condotto con perizia storiografica, di gettare luce sugli avvenimenti italiani tardomedievali. Non disgiunte dalla narrazione storica sono le ampie notizie sulle famiglie nobili d'Italia, duchi, principi, marchesi, conti, vescovi, abati, ecc.

Der Buchblock ist mit gelegentlicher minimaler Vergilbung, aber sauber ohne Markierungen. Sehr feste Buchbindung. Einband mit Pergament der Zeit. Modernes Exlibris auf dem Innendeckel. Schließen fehlen , dafür nur ein Ersatz (Leinenriemen). Insgesamt ein recht gutes Exemplar (bis sehr gut). Carolus Sigonius oder Carlo Sigonio (1524 Modena-1584 ebenda) war ein italienischer Humanist, Historiker und Rechtshistoriker. Sein Ruf beruht auf seinen Untersuchungen zur Geschichte Roms und Athens. Zu den wichtigen Werken zählen De antiquo iure Romanorum, Italiae, provinciarum (1560), De Romanae jurisprudentiae iudiciis libri XI (1574), De republica Atheniensium (1564) und De Atheniensium et Lacedaemoniorum temporibus libri V (1565). Zu diesen Werken gesellt sich eine ähnliche Untersuchung über die Juden De republica hebreorum libri VII (1582). All diese Werke sind im Exemplar, das hier angeboten wird, enthalten. Außerdem ist das Werk In B. Sulpicii Severi historicos libros duos, Commenarii duo (1581) abgedruckt. Vgl. William McCuaig: Carlo Sigonio. Diese Ausgabe könnte ein Nachdruck von der Ausgage von Bologna 1573 (Societas typographiae Bononiensis) sein, die die Werke zum römischen Recht abdruckt, der Frankfurter Verleger hat die anderen Werke hinzugefügt. Das abgedruckte Vorwort von 1573, der der Ausgabe von Bologna entnommen worden ist, bezieht sich nur auf die Werke über das römische Recht; er hat offensichtlich die vier Titel der Werke ( De antiquo iure civium Romanorum libri II, De antiquo iure Italiae libri III, De antiquo iure provinciarum libri III und De iudiciis libri III zusamengefaßt und die Gesamtzahl der Bücher (12) errechnet und sie dem neuen Gesamttitel hinzugefügt. Auf den Verleger gehen ebenfalls die Erstellung des Registers sowie die Zusammefassungen des Inhalts zurück, wie aus dem Titel hervorgeht. Nicht bei Brunet, Manuel: V, coll. 379-380, der aber keinen Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit erhebt und dabei bemerkt, daß er nicht alle Ausgaben verzeichnet hat, weil sie (insbesondere die von Paulus Manutius) nur mittelmäßige Preisen erreichen. McCuaig, op. cit, 345-356 (aufgrund von Autopsie) bieter eine recht vollständige Bibliographie der Werke mit Kommentar Bei Adams, II , p.204, n. 1101. Buch.

Solida legatura ottocentesca in pergamena rigida con filetti decorativi ai piatti e titoli impressi al dorso. Frontespizio un po' brunito, altrimenti bell'esemplare fresco e ben conservato. Bella legatura coeva in piena pergamena morbida con titoli manoscritti al dorso e unghie. Trascurabili arrossature e qualche live alone al margine di poche carte. Esemplare ben conservato e marginoso. Carlo Sigonio (1520-1584), grande storico ed erudito modenese, è ritenuto il precursore di Muratori e tra i padri della storiografia in Italia. Rara prima edizione di questa importante biografia del grande condottiero e ammiraglio genovese Andrea Doria (morto quasi novantenne nel 1560), uno dei principali protagonisti della storia italiana ed europea del Cinquecento, che combattè per l'Imperatore Carlo V nelle guerre contro il Re di Francia Francesco I, e guidò diverse spedizioni contro i Turchi negli anni tra il 1530 e il 1541. Questo saggio biografico fu pubblicato postumo da Pompeo Arnolfini con dedica all'omonimo nipote Andrea Doria; l'opera fu anche tradotta in italiano e pubblicata sempre a Genova da Pavoni nel 1598. Cm. 35, pp. (8) 591 (1). Con grande marchio xilografico al frontespizio, testate e capolettera ornati. Solida legatura antica (settecentesca) in piena pergamena rigida. Una porzione di carta (bianca) mancante al termine dell'epistola preliminare ed una gora chiara all'ancolo alto di poche carte, un timbro privato di possesso al frontespizio, peraltro esemplare marginoso, genuino ed in ottimo stato di conservazione. Edizione originale di questa trattazione che è da ritenere il primo tentativo, condotto con perizia storiografica, di gettare luce sugli avvenimenti italiani tardomedievali. Non disgiunte dalla narrazione storica sono le ampie notizie sulle famiglie nobili d'Italia, duchi, principi, marchesi, conti, vescovi, abati, ecc.
