Birds of The Wayside and Woodland - Comprising a descriptive history of the families corvidae to tetraonidae - Based upon the standard work "The Birds Of The British Isles". - Edited and with Introductory Chapters Upon The General Habits and Characteristics of Birds by Enid Blyton. - With 300 Accurately Coloured Illustrations. 8 Photographic Reproductions and 52 Text Figures. - CONDITION & DESCRIPTION OF THIS BOOK: The dustjacket is the original and was designed by 'CW' [Clifford Webb] - (14 February 1895 - 29 July 1972) - Clifford Webb specialised in animal drawings, and also produced the illustrations for the first two books of the Swallows and Amazons series by Arthur Ransome. - The dustjacket retains the price on the inner front prelim. It retains it's vibrancy and is fully present. The only flaws are minor rubbing to the folds on the spine. It is housed in a removable protective archival sleeve. Orange cloth boards with black lettering and decoration to the spine and front board. Boards are lightly faded, mainly to the spine. Boards remain strong, clean, and firmly attached to inner page block. The 352 pages lightly browned throughout the book. Apart from this, all pages are clean and tightly bound. The illustrations colour and black and white are so beautiful. There is a small pencilled signature of J.M. Balfour[ James Moncreiff Balfour] - [who was an author himself, and wrote - Recent Happenings in Persia - 1922, and the work was considered by scholars to be an important work] to the first blank end-page. There is a small indented corner fold at the front of the book.
