Covers the majority of works from the exhibition "Modern Beauty" which traveled throughout Europe and adds a large number of other photos from private and public collections. Each chapter is presented by a top historian in the field, and analyzes the important creative trends during the given period. Emphasis is placed on works that were innovative, not simply immitating European or Russian models. The Czech edition was awarded "Best Photographic Publication" at the International Festival Primavera Photografica in Barcelona, and took first prize for best photographic publication in Central and Eastern Europe. 311 pages include B&W and some color photos throughout, index, bibliography, biographies of the photographers, chronology of Czech photography.
