Cajo parcialmente sesgado. Portada levemente deslucida. Anotaciones manuscritas antiguas en los márgenes, algunas son glosas en francés. Ex-libris de anterior poseedor. * Edición veneciana de la obra magna de Pedro Antonio Beuter (1522-1554), primer cronista del reino de Valencia. Beuter se considera, entre otros, el creador de la leyenda de las cuatro barras para el escudo de Cataluña, pues adaptó la leyenda de la toma de Córdoba en 1236 y estableció una nueva tradición. Su obra obtuvo una enorme difusión, como lo demuestra el hecho de que se editara en Venecia apenas diez años después de que la primera parte española viera la luz. Beuter ofrece valiosos testimonios, como la que se considera la cita más antigua sobre yacimientos arqueológicos españoles referente a una tumba eneolítica en la Cartuja de las Fuentes. Asimismo, reinterpreta algunas leyendas e instaura otras nuevas, como la de Blasco de Alagón y la conquista de Morella. En relación a ésta cabe destacar que la versión de Beuter presenta la particularidad de reseñar la procedencia de la misma, pues el autor afirma que dio con la narración en los archivos del castillo de Morella.
