Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. Black & White Photographs Ilustrador. Dust jacket has light esgewear and light soiling, text is very clean and well bound. Tomboy Bride is the autobiographical account of Harriet Backus's years in four of North America's remote mining camps in the early 1900s. Her adventurous experiences first took her to the Tomboy Mine above Telluride, Colorado as the bride of George Backus. From there they went to the copper mines at Britannia Beach in British Columbia and then to the remote regions of Idaho. The story concludes with the years spent in Leadville, Colorado. There are rare old photographs to illustrate these locations, enriching the historical value of her book.

Hardcover. Condición: Fair. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fair. Blue buckram lettered along the spine. Leaning, and old dampstaining to the tops of the pages. The previous owner (Sonia Martin) has noted on the front endpaper that she received the book as a gift from Tom Ferril, a journalist for the Rocky Mountain Herald and later the poet laureate of Colorado. Laid in is a two page handwritten letter from Harriet Fish Backus to Ferril regarding his article about her book. Backus inadvertently addressed the letter, "Dear Mr. Herald." On the back of the second page, Sonia Martin has written in pencil, "Letter from author to Tom Ferril, who apparently had written a favorable review and who gave me the book some years later. Sonia Martin, 1/27/90." The dust jacket is worn and stained, with chipping to the edges. Publisher's price of $6.50 on the front flap.
