Card paper covers, string binding, 12 pages, small 14.5 x 12.5cm, hand color illustrations by Aveline, covers are loose, couple of small closed cover tears, mild and light damp stain mirrored by first two pages, light browning to covers.inscription on rear of front cover (dated 1892). The sad and gruesome demise of poor black boy Jeremi whom is love with a black girl, the white master whips him and Jeremi dives into the river only to drown. Aveline's illustrations are quite wonderful and dark. Rare, 'children's book from late 19th century.
