hardcover, 9" x 6 1/4", with dust jacket 190 pages Dark-blue cloth-bound board with gold type to spine, 28 full-colour photographs, line drawing of ship. A sea journey from 20th century Denmark back to the stone age of the island of New Britain, which lies north of New Guinea. The author discusses the primitive life of the island inhabitants, isolated from the surrounding world by impassable mountains, with emphasis on the fertility cult which worships enormous phallic symbols (the photographer appears infatuated with native breasts though.) Jacket has some minor edge-wear. 'Australian National Travel Association' stamped in text. LOOSELY INSERTED: Publisher's review slip. GOOD book in GOOD unclipped dust jacket.
