Green cloth with gilt spine lettering. xxi+698pp. Signature of Ambrose Caliver, leader in the field of 20th century Black education, and part of U.S. office of Education, in 4 places: front endpage, half title, title page, and rear pastedown. At the time of publication, Caliver was Dean of Fisk University, and has one entry in the bibliography. Poor book. Heavily dampstained and soiled. Front hinge cracked. The last two leaves (pp. 695-98) are missing. Check marks on many entries, especially in education section. Publisher-supplied library catalog cards laid in. In polypropylene bag.
