Hard Cover. Condición: Good. No Jacket. Four novels written in the 1870's. The first title page does not givethe author's name. Title reads"My Little Girl" A Novel by the author of "Ready-Money Mortboy".This novel was written by Walter Besant and published by Lovell, Adam, Wesson & Company of New York (no date given). The second novel is "Carter Quarterman" by William M. Baker, published by Harper & Brothers in 1876 and illustrated by Elias F. Whitney The third novel is "White Lies" by Charles Reade, published by Harper & Brothers in 1875. The fourth novel is "My Mother and I" - by 'the author of "John Halifax gentleman" 'with illustrations', published by Harper & Brothers 1874. The book has a number of stamps stating 'The Property of Scarboro Mechanics Institute, which possibly means the novels were specially bound for this Institute. The binding is half-leather and marbled boards with golt lettering on the spine. The covering is lifting from the spine although the spine base is firm. The binding is worn from handling and rubbed at the corners. The text is tight and clean with very little foxing, and is mildly age-browned. This is a heavy book and may incur extra shipping costs.
