Librería: Book Orphanage, McCrae, VIC, Australia
Hardcover, 8" x 5¼", with dust jacket 192 pages Black cloth-bound boards with gold type to spine. This little-known Verne detective story is set in the diamond-mining region of South Africa, and concerns the efforts of a young scientist to clear the name of a native who is suspected of stealing a valuable piece of property. Enough clues are given for the reader to solve the mystery, and there is an abundance of adventure and excitement. Jules Verne was greatly influenced by Edgar Allan Poe as this work shows, but the irrepressible humour is all his own. Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers, barcode etc. GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket.
