Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. ] Hardbacks (boards are thin and a bit flexible, but I think they would qualify), 24mo (appx 3 3/4 x 5 3/4 inches) (nearly 15 cm), gilt titles and decorations on red cloth, ranging 170 to 190 pages each, as a lot Near VG. Matched Set of 5. Two FFEP and 1 RFEP show a bit of child's doodling in pencil. Romance volume rubbed or faded at head of spine (title present but floral decoration above title mostly gone). Otherwise all volumes generally clean inside and out with only minor rubbing to corners and spine-ends. Both the spines and the front covers are titled and decorated in gilt. Each volume has a frontispiece illustration (one misplaced ahead of the half-title) and each volume nicely illustrated throughout. Each volume contains 6 or seven stories previously published in McClure's Magazine. I'm not aware of any other titles in the series, but I wouldn't discount that there might have been others published. A sampling of the authors represented: Earl Joslyn, Lizzie Neff, Morgan Robertson, Mary Stewart Cutting, Gertrude Smith, Collins Shackelford, Major-General Nelson A. Miles, Major Philip Douglas, Capt. T. J. Mackey (Corps of Engineers, C.S.A.), E.V. Wilson, Ella Higginson, Dorothy Lundt. RWR5 Literature 19th Century Journalism.
