An advertising card for the Kansas City section of the Socialist Labor Party of America, which invites wage workers to use the free reading room and to attend February's free lecture series. The lectures took place on Sunday afternoons at 3pm and included, "History of Socialism in America," "Aims and Objects of the Socialist Labor Party," "The Press in the Political Field," and "Political Organizations and Their Tactics." The Socialist Labor Party is the oldest socialist party in the United States and the second oldest in the world still in existence. Card measures 4 ½" x 2 ¾" and is printed recto only. Some toning and possible faint dampstaining along the right edge.

Ephemeral recruiting brochure, with invitation and instructions for joining the Socialist Party, likely distributed at Russell's speaking engagements during his U.S. Senate campaign of 1913-14. A popular muckracking journalist, Russell was one of the Socialist Party's leading advocates in the years before WW1.

Includes excerpts of speeches and essays by Earl Browder, Israel Amter, M.J. Olgin and others, as well as two cartoons by Fred Ellis. Much on the COMINTERN's stance towards the Spanish Civil War. SEIDMAN C-465: "Communist Party leaders warn the Socialist Party against Trotskyite influence, and invite socialists to collaborate in a people's front.".

An appeal "to proclaim the right of the Bohemian nation to free development and to existence as an independent political state." Discusses the history of Bohemia and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. A very interesting pamphlet. VG but for an ex-lib. stamp on front cover and some cover wear.
