Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fair. 1st Edition. The Second Twenty-Fourth is a history of an infantry battalion of the 9th Australian Division, one of the most famous army formations which fought in World War II. This Division was nominated by Axis propaganda in 1941 as "The Rats of Tobruk", and has borne that title proudly ever since. In contrast to the war in the Western Desert the Battalion was engaged in 1943 and 1945 in amphibious and jungle warfare against the brave and tenacious Japanese Army in New Guinea and Borneo. The story is told throughout in the words of the members of the battalion who were participants in the fighting. This volume is a significant contribution to the history of the Australian soldier. **The book has tanning, shelf rubbing at the bottom and the name of Bill Sweeting (Official War Historian) inside the title page. The jacket has a good many tape-repaired tears and several small missing pieces.**.
