Small black mark to bottom edge of page block. Sir Henry O'Neal de Hane Segrave (22 September 1896 13 June 1930) was an early British pioneer in land speed and water speed records. Segrave, who set three land and one water record, was the first person to hold both titles simultaneously and the first person to travel at over 200 miles per hour (320 km/h) in a land vehicle. Henry Segrave was a pioneer in land speed and water speed records. He was the first person to hold both land speed and water speed records, and the first to travel at over two hundred miles per hour in a land vehicle. In this work, originally published two years before his accidental death in the Lake District, Segrave retraces his career as world's champion racing motorist from 1922 to 1927, with chapters dedicated to racing, the Grand Prix, his arrival in America, and sharing some observations.Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of the author and other plates of photographs. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally smart with minor shelf wear and some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Some fading to the spine. Previous ownership inscription to the front free endpaper, undated. Internally, firmly bound. With a minor spotting to the fore edge, affecting the occasional leaf throughout, although generally the pages appear generally very clean and bright.
