It was brought from the Sandwich islands to Lapwai, arriving May 13, 1839 and was set up three days later. On May 24, four hundred copies of its first imprint were run off, an eight-page booklet in Nez Perce for children and beginners-at-reading. This was the first book printed in the Oregon country.
