A very good copy in very good- dust jacket with a few short tears, small chips and nicks, slight rubbing and browning to jacket (chiefly at top edges); slight internal browning to edges and endpapers. 125 pages. Concise study of the American painter and victim of the 1918 influenza epidemic; notable for the many reproductions of family photographs. Foreword by Douglas MacAgy; list of known extant works and selected bibliography at rear. Signed by Wolf in blue ink on front free endpaper; with additional pencil inscription on front attached endpaper by the recipient, Bert Baum (referenced in the author's acknowledgments, page 12, and in the listing of private collections, page 123), and an additional pencil inscription by Baum in lower margin of page 36. Still a fairly clean and tight copy internally, with an exceptional provenance.Over 70 b/w Illustrations (chiefly photographs).
