In August 1959 seven young Frenchman visited Papua to locate, record and befriend a primative tribe whose only contact with neighbouring natives was to engage in combat. Months later they emerged from their exploration and Sulnier provides a fabulous account of their experiences, adventures, perils and joys. An amazing book. 309 pages, full page photos throughout, some in colour, maps, colour pict e/papers. First published in French 1961, translation by Margaret Shenfield. Text block excellent. Brown hard covers with white spine titles, b/w head native head decoration on front. Spine lightly sunned, front cover few marks, very light surface wear, two small marks back. VG apart from two small (3cm) tears spine top, small nick lower back spine edge. Becoming scarce.
