Hardcover. Condición: Poor to Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Poor to Good. True First Edition. The Authors first book and winner of the French Literary award 'Prix du Roman d'adventures', 1931, quite scarce in this 1st US printing. He was just 23 at the time. One of only 3 mystery novels that were published in English by this very popular French writer. This title in French (Six hommes morts) also went on to become the First of several of his books to grace the silver screen as The Riverside Murder (1935) and The Last One of the Six (novel "6 Hommes morts") in 1941. The condition is quite worn with the dust wrapper affixed (glued) to the bds and a lending library sheet on the front end paper also glued along the top edge over the blurb (a duplicate of the DJ front flap title blurb) about Stephen Vincent Benet and his wife who is the translator of this title. I have not seen the copy treated in this manner before, perhaps they were testing this printing with and without a dust wrapper? The DJ is complete with price intact ($2.00) on the front flap and 'Miss Pinkerton' by Mary Roberts Rinehart advertised on the rear flap, also priced $2.00. The text is 250 pages, complete with the title page/copyright page with the F&R colophone at the bottom. Binding is somewhat skewed. Size: 12mo - 7-3/4" Tall (Large). Book.
