Sept. 23, 1932, etc. In the early 1930s, the Norwegian bark Roald Amundsen, a 60 foot replica of a Viking ship, sailed from Norway to Spain to New Orleans, then up the Mississippi and through the Great Lakes, then on the Erie Canal to Albany and then to New York City. From there it went up the Atlantic coast, following the Viking routes to Canadian ports and then to Iceland and back to Norway. The Captain was Gerhard Folgero with three crew members: Asbjorn Johnsen, Carl Norheim and K. Alex Carlsson, who signed and initialed this book.
