It also offers an interesting glimpse into the working of the household in Roman antiquity, with illustrations of costumes, jewelry, musical instruments, keys, etc. Includes two folding plates of the Roman abacus which was used to compute the prices for sales. A learned antiquary born in Padua in 1571, Pignoria was educated by the Jesuits and a canonry of Treviso was conferred upon him by cardinal Fr. Barberini. This present work is called "a valuable work" although criticised as being diffuse. Third edition. Pignorius' work was secund edition published in Augsburg in 1613.Deuxième édition, illustrée de nombr. figures gravées. Pagination errors: Second series p65 misnumbered as p56; p96 misnumbered as 94. First printed title page is dated 1670. The engraved title and second printed title page are dated 1669. Rebacked with original spine laid over. Spine with five raised bands and red morocco title label. Some wear and rubbing to board edges. Water stain affects approximately one third of each page throughout the entire book. Complete with the engraved title page, plate at p67 plus eleven fold-outs. Numerous other illustrations within the text. Vignette to both title pages. Old inked note to leading blank on the history of the Mensa Isiaca. This edition also includes Pignoria's Magnia Deum Matre, and Tomasini's Life and Bibliography of Pignoria. Overall condition is Good. Size: 7.5 x 9.5 inches (19 x 24 cm). Hardback. Notre exemplaire comporte 43 gravures en taille-douce. Un frontispice gravés par Blooteling, 8 planches à pleine page, 26 figures dans le texte et 8 des 11 sections de la Table Isiaque réalisées par Giacomo Franco d'après les gravures de Vico parues en 1559, ces 8 sections sont regroupées en 4 grandes pl. dép. Il manque les 3 sections de la bande centrale de la table. Reliure de l'époque en parchemin. Dos lisse avec titre manuscrit à l'encre noir. Bel exemplaire Lorenzo Pignoria (1571-1631) était un historien de Padoue connu pour ses collections d'antiquités et de manuscrits. Dès 1605, il donne une édition de la Table Isiaque. Cette édition comprend, à la suite de la description de la Table d'Isis, les rééditions de deux traités sur les antiquités egyptienne: une étude, par Pignoria, de la main panthée et d'une statuette d'Atys; une seconde étude par Giacomo Filippo Tomasini (1595-1655) concernant une autre main votive.
