For example: "Ohio Valley, c. 1800" - or a 9-line note about ropewalks along the Ohio River as preface to the poem "The Rope-Spinner." The author wrote a 1911 dissertation at the University of Chicago entitled: "A study of the Greek priestess ]" (54pp.) under the name Elisabeth Holderman. She was later professor of history and political science at Berea College in Kentucky and author of the 1955 history of that college.
