A fine antique copy of a photographic portrait, printed by a lithographic progress in Circa 1880, from 'The Theatre' by Mr Samuel Walker, mounted and ready to frame, accompanied by printed signature and quote from 'Cowley'. Miss Palmer, born in Philadelphia, U.S.A in 1865 made her first stage appearance at the age of eleven in Baltimore playing a juvenile part in 'Kisses'. Following 'The Boarding School', 1879-80, a two-act comedy by Mr. E. Browne she acheived considerable success in both England and America with her role in 'My Sweetheart'. Alluded to as a ''queer composition of song, dance and animal spirits'', this is an excellent opportunity to purchase a fascinating theatrical portrait.

Scarce salesman's dummy for this popular cook book. 12 sales recorded on subscription blank - mainly for Sacramento customers. For the published book, Axord, Bitting, and Brown all list the Chicago edition only. Axford p. 429 (for Chicago, 1901 ed.), Bitting p. 354 (for Chicago 1901 ed.), Brown 567, 576 (Chicago, 1894, 1901). Stockton imprint not listed on OCLC. Salesman s dummy not recorded. Moderate soiling to boards, watermark to top margin of title page and frontispiece (not affecting image), leaves browned, else very good.
