Hard cover dust wrapper, xiv/197pp, b&w plates. Edges of dust wrapper/boards lightly worn, page edges lightly browqned; a very good copy. Ex-Bomber Command navigator Gordon Musgrove gives a detailed account of the awesome/awful expression of Bomber Command's area-bombing policy - the 1943 RAF attempt to obliterate Hamburg, Germany's northern port city. Draws on Allied and German reports and eyewitness accounts of what was considered to be the most terrible conventional bombing-created firestorm of WWII.
