Sole edition. Size - 9.5 x 6 inches, pp. xxxv + 464, 157 illustrations and 85 tables in the text, hardback in publisher's binding. Book condition - near Very Good ; contents clean, no foxing, a few minor inscriptions in the text, binding firm with inner hinges intact ; original black cloth with title in gilt on the spine and front board ; back clean, corners a little rubbed and top corner a bit bumped, hinge intact, spine complete with ends creased but not split, spine colour perhaps a tad faded but clean ( a few faint marks) and gilt title is complete and bright, front board is clean with bright gilt title, bottom, front corner shows an obvious bump causing a creasing of the cloth and there is another similar bump on the bottom edge (please see photo). No dustjacket (ever issued ? ). A scientific and technical examination of the subject. The contents are in four parts with a total of 22 chapters, plus a name index and a subject index Example chapter headings - The Influence of Carbonising Conditions on the Formation of Coke ; The Structure of Coke ; The Reactivity of Coke ; The Placticity of Coal and the Formation of Semi-Coke ; The Mechanism of Coke Formation ; Improving the Quality of Coke ; The Influence of the Method of Charging an Oven , etc. A heavy book, so postage outside of the UK will be higher than the standard rates quoted on ABEBooks. Endpapers on rougher-quality paper that has sustained extensive foxing of a moderate shade. Tiny red stain to margin of frontispiece illustration.Light rubbing to cover extremities. Otherwise clean, tight, and unworn.
