Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Book Club Edition. This is a very nice German edition of George Meredith's Great Comic Romance, "The Egoist" , Translated into German by Hans Reisiger. "The Egoist" is considered one of the major novels penned by George Meredith. This comedy of manners was first published in 1879. The intricacies of the plot are many and pleasant to read, and the various characters introduced as foils or to further the 'intrigue' are well-drawn. Good humor, biting satire, and a portrait of English society that has a verisimilitude, rarely matched. The translator has appended an afterword for German readers. ************************************************ TITLE : Der Egoist / AUTHOR : George Meredith (1828 - 1909) / TRANSLATION & EPILOGUE : Hans Reisiger (1884 - 1968) / IMPRINT : Deutsche Buch - Gemeinschaft / PLACE : Berlin & Darmstadt / Date : (1955) / LANGUAGE : German / EDITION : German Reprint - German Bookclub / STATUS : This edition OP/ PHYSICAL DETAILS: The entire text and the afterword is in German (a modern type-face).
