Hardcover. Condición: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. A Christmas Candle by Mariquita Platov was published by Torquil & Co., Distributed by Dodd, Mead & Co., New York, N.Y., in 1962. An ex-library copy, this 50-year-old, 6" X 9", 18-page, thought-to-be First Edition offering is in G condition. There is very modest yellowing of end papers front and back as well as pages of text, and some of the requisite library markings are in evidence. There is pretty noticeable shelf wear at random spots along all edges of front/back cover boards (especially at the four, outer-most tips of same. This is, then, a song book, complete with simplified piano arrangements, and all lyrics, for the nine (9) original Christmas pieces, all composed by the author. Commencing with the signature/title tune, "A Christmas Candle", some of the other titles include "Yuletide Song", "A Legend of St. Nicholas", "A Visit To Bethlehem", and "Christmas Bells". NOTE: There are, additionally, in amongst the music, some five(5) black and white Drawings, in/with bold, strong lines, having almost/somewhat the appearance of old-fashioned woodcut engravings from days of yore. Perhaps you're always on the lookout for fresh, essentially not-heard-of songs to perform and enjoy at Christmas time, Reader. Well, have a look and listen, if you're able, at this grouping. Thank you!!.
