Octavo, original green cloth, spine panel stamped in black. First edition. During World War I, Sir Ernest Dunlop Swinton (1868-1951), a Royal Engineer, advocated the use of caterpillar tractors for trench-crossing, developed the idea of tanks, and commanded the tank training force in 1916. Bleiler, Science-Fiction: The Early Years 1707. Bleiler (1978), p. 150.
